Here we go: my first book review on the blog!
I can’t decide how detailed I’ll become with these. I may need to start taking better notes as I go through books! This is a synopsis to get started. So, without further ado…

In an effort to mix up the story trend I had going, I picked up this book. Little did I know that I’d read a story of another kind: the Israelite people, the Bible, and the ministry and message of Jesus. Bethke makes connections of the gospel across the Old and New Testaments, reminding readers that the Gospel has power because Jesus is Lord right here, right now. The claims of the Christ are bold and big enough to rattle our relationships, assumptions, and lives today.
I enjoyed this overview of the Christian faith and its tenets; it felt like a shorter version of Starting Points or Perspectives. For a return (or first time!) to the basics, try “It’s Not What You Think: Why Christianity is about So Much More than Going to Heaven When You Die” by Jefferson Bethke.
Do you have any questions about this book in particular? Are there details you’d like to see included in future reviews?
Thanks for reading with me!
